CREATING EXCELLENCE
In the business if creating excellence within students, it is important for them to know - first hand - by what if feels like - to "not measure up to their own best effort." We need that threshold to be very clear. So that there is no mistaking it - when we push past that "I can't" place. We need to know it...so we can push past it." Dig!
But then there's more....
Excellence involves stamina. Excellence means determination - to stay the course...and that course is one of excellence - by decision.
To train for that level, one must practice "in the zone." By working out in a mindset of putting the pedal to the medal - so to speak - the athlete becomes familiar with working out at their best - in terms of performance, behavior, stamina, and intensity.
Consequently, the athlete discovers all the ways that they can "fall off the Pace" when going all out. That's good! But, it can also be frustrating...cause it tells you as much about what you Can't Do as it does about what you CAN DO. That part can be tough on the self-esteem.
That's life, as they say. But, who said that it has to be negative. The good news is that the power to change your "level" resides with you - the doer. Fall down - but get the heck back up! Fall down again - and get the hell back up again. Shoot - once you're down - you know where that's at! And Moreover, if you don't LIKE where Down is at - then that's all the more motivation to get the hell back up...and change that shit!!!
That's my take on it anyway.
Oss!
